Hermes Scarf Repair and repleating

Pleated Hermes scarves are works of art. Over time, they can lose their form due to everyday wear, improper storage or mishandling during cleaning. Here at Tom's Sons International Pleating, we offer a specialized service designed to carefully repleat these scarves, restoring their shape, movement, beauty and elegance.

What to know before repleating

  • Dry Clean First (if needed): If your scarf hasn't already been dry-cleaned, we recommend doing so before sending it to us. If it was already flattened by a dry cleaner, you can skip this step.

If you need a dry cleaner, we recommend the following:

  1. Hallak Cleaners (Tie-Crafters) - Manhattan
  2. Jeeves New York -Midtown Manhattan
  3. Landau's Cleaners - Brooklyn
  • Pleat Accuracy: We closely match the original pleat structure but, placement may have slight variations. These differences are usually imperceptible unless viewed under close inspection.
  • Discoloration: If your scarf is vintage, it may have oxidized or become dirty at the pleat folds. Repleating may shift those lines slightly, which would be especially noticeable on white or very light-colored fabrics.

The process

Pressing Flat

We begin the process by gently pressing the scarf to remove the original pleats.

Repleating

Combining our precision pleating machinery with our years of expertise, we repleat the scarf to closely match the original style.

Finishing touches

The scarf is then lightly pressed and quality checked before shipping it back to you.
